2 brush fires spark along I-70 near Denver International Airport DENVER (KDVR) — Fire crews worked to put out two separate brush fires that sparked Friday afternoon near Interstate 70 and Peña Boulevard.The two "slow-moving" fires were reported around 2 p.m., according to tweets from Aurora Fire Rescue. Both Denver and Aurora fire crews responded. Denver International Airport pinpointed a fire location near 40th Avenue. Above-normal snowpack helps drought conditions in Colorado Aurora Fire Rescue said that crews had containment on both fires by about 2:35 p.m. One was east of the intersection and one was west. They were about an acre each."No buildings were threatened and no injuries occurred," Aurora Fire tweeted. Juvenile drowns in Northwest Miami-Dade lake; 2nd juvenile rushed to hospital One juvenile has died and another has been rushed to hospital after they were pulled from a lake in Northwest Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the drowning at 1180 NW 99 St., Friday afternoon. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene where rescue crews surrounded the area to rescue the juveniles. According to MDFR, three divers were in the water searching for the children. One of the children was rescued first and transported to the hospital. After searching further, divers were able to find the second child, who was also transported to the hospital. Ultimately, one of the juveniles did not survive. UMass Dartmouth mourns loss of student after freshman fatally struck by vehicle on campus A freshman UMass Dartmouth student was hit and killed by a vehicle on campus Thursday evening, according to the Bristol County DA’s office.Campus police responded to a report of a motor vehicle that struck a pedestrian around 5:30 p.m. Officers found 19-year-old Frank Petillo Jr. lying in the roadway on Ring Road with serious injuries. Petillo was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
