WREXHAM, Wales (AP) — Spoiler alert! Season 2 of “Welcome to Wrexham” is set to get the Hollywood ending the first one failed to deliver. This being Wrexham, however, a last-minute plot twist isn’t out of the question. It’s hard to imagine that even the Welsh soccer team’s A-list owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, could have anticipated the edge-of-your-seat, unscripted spectacle created by this unlikely union.“That was the most dramatic thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” a breathless Reynolds said after the 3-2 win over Notts County that put Wrexham on the brink of promotion from the National League, five steps below the Premier League. “I will never be the same again.”When Tinseltown met a former mining town in Wales, sparks flew. And even if Reynolds and McElhenney recognized the entertainment value of a fly-on-the-wall documentary about a historic but down-on-its-luck soccer team run by two actors learning the ropes of sports club ownership, the end product has p...White House recruits Edward Lee as state dinner guest chef

I wasn’t shocked when I heard the news,” Ludwig told CNN on Thursday. “I believe he held — holds — racist tendencies and beliefs.”But Ludwig’s older brother, Daniel, reportedly disputed the notion that race played a role when their grandfather, 84-year-old Andrew Lester, shot 16-year-old Ralph Yarl in front of his door on April 13.Lester, who was initially detained but then released hours after the shooting, has now been charged with two felonies. On Wednesday, Lester pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Washington state has officially abolished the death penalty.Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee signed Senate Bill 5087 on Friday, which removes state laws that Washington’s Supreme Court determined are invalid or unconstitutional. The state’s high court struck down the death penalty in 2018, but the law remained on the books.“It’s official. The death penalty is no longer in state law,” Inslee said on Twitter after the signing. He also thanked legislators and other leaders who were part of the decade-long effort to end the practice, including Attorney General Bob Ferguson. In 2014, Inslee issued a moratorium on the death penalty. In 2018, Washington’s Supreme Court unanimously struck down the death penalty, calling it arbitrary and racially biased.A statistical analysis by University of Washington sociologists, cited by the judges, showed that juries were about four times more likely to sentence Black defendants to death.“To the extent that race distinguishes the case...Latest news
