DENVER (KDVR) -- Medina Alerts in Colorado aren't issued as often as many might believe.A representative with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said Sunday that, on average, the organization issues five to 10 alerts each year. “You won't see a Medina Alert in every single hit-and-run case out there, even if it is covered in the media," Audrey Simkins, an investigative analyst with CBI said. She said law enforcement agencies will reach out to CBI to have the alert issued if they believe the public can help find the car or driver involved. Denver hit-and-runs on the rise “[To qualify for a Medina Alert], there has to be serious bodily injury, harm or death to the person involved in the accident and there needs to be information that an alert will be of assistance,” Simkins said. It wasn’t a matter of volume or proximity; Vučević was speaking Serbian, a language that Donovan, Brothers and Corbin don’t understand.“I don’t know how they can T him up when he’s talking Serbian,” Donovan said after the game. “He may have been asking them if they wanted to go out to dinner that night.”Vučević exclusively curses in Serbian when he’s on the court, a trait that often helps him to avoid trouble as a typically levelheaded veteran. UK report: Black kids 6 times likelier to be strip-searched

LONDON (AP) — Black children in England and Wales were six times more likely to be strip-searched by police, according to a report being released Monday that found children were failed by those sworn to protect them. Children’s Commissioner Rachel de Souza found nearly 3,000 children were strip-searched between 2018 and mid-2022 and more than half the searches were conducted without an appropriate adult present. The investigation was launched after a Black 15-year-old girl suspected of having marijuana was strip-searched at a London school in 2020 by two female officers without another adult present. The girl, identified as “Child Q,” was menstruating and no drugs were found. A previous report said racism was a likely factor for the humiliating search.“The bravery of a girl to speak up about a traumatic thing that happened to her” led to the report that found “widespread noncompliance” of safeguards and evidence of a “deeply concerning practice,” de Souza said. The findings fo...
